In an effort to strengthen peaceful co-existence, inter -religious dialogue and tolerance in Nigeria; some Muslim clerics led by Alaramma Abdulrahman Mohammad Bichi paid a visit to their Christian counterparts in Kaduna State to felicitate with them at Easter.
While addressing their hosts at the residence of Pastor Yohanna Buru at Sabon Tasha, a Christian dominated area, Bichi prayed that God will accept their prayers and bring peace and unity to the world.
Bichi also stated that Lent is a season of total repentance, prayers and fasting, saying, Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter.
The Muslim Cleric reiterated; “The Lent season is a time when many Christians observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial and spiritual discipline, and the purpose for this is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ – his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection. That is why, as Nigerian Muslims call on Christian leaders to partner with their counterparts in Islam to build Nigeria into a strong and united nation.”
Bichi recounted how Pastor Buru and other pastors and reverends always joined them in breaking fast at different Mosques in the state during Ramadan period.
One of the youth leaders at Barnawa in Kaduna; Mallam Gambo Abdullahi added; “We are all one family under God, because one God created Adams and Eve. We all worship one God, so we are brothers and sisters. We must learn to tolerate and forgive one another so as to make our great country forge ahead.”
Pastor Buru who gave commended the Muslim clerics’ kind gestures called on Nigerians to join hands and shun all forms of ethno-religious and political crisis.
