Baptist Church Holds Back-to-School Bash for Local Students

As the first days of school peaks just around the corner, a West Michigan group, hosted by their church, is having a little fun before the conclusion of summer break.

On Saturday, Aug. 18, the Bible Baptist Church in Kalamazoo held their Community Back-To-School Bash. Children played in bounce houses and books were given away in a fun, educational way to enjoy one of their last weekends before they’re back in the classroom.

“I know they’re not necessarily ready, but the parents are ready. So it’s just our way of helping so that, this year, do our best so that kids can get off to a great and a good start,” Pastor Kevin Lavender, Sr. of Bible Baptist Church said.

The Kelly Miller Circus paid a visit to the celebration, as well. Sponsors of the event include Charlie’s Place, Kalamazoo Public Schools, The Kalamazoo Promise, Communities in Schools of Kalamazoo and Bible Baptist Church.
